New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs said today (April 12) that Ukraine has requested additional medicines and medical equipment from India.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday, “Ukraine has requested additional medicines and medical equipment from India. This request has been made through a letter written by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to Prime Minister Modi.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emin Tabarova, who is on a 3-day visit to India, met Indian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi. Then the letter was given to Meenakshi. Also, during the meeting, Emin Taberova said that reconstruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure would be a good opportunity for Indian companies,” the statement said.
India’s Joint External Affairs Minister Meenakshi Lekhi has published a post on her Twitter page. In it, he reiterated what Prime Minister Modi pointed out when he met Russian President Putin last year, saying, “This is no time for war.” Meenakshi also said in her post, “I am happy to have met the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine. The two like-minded countries exchanged bilateral views and views on global issues. During this meeting, bilateral cultural relations and empowerment of women were also discussed. Additional humanitarian assistance was promised to Ukraine.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister took to Twitter to thank Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi on Tuesday. “The meeting with Meenakshi Lekhi was very useful. The minister explained about Ukraine’s efforts against aggression. Bilateral relations in various fields including culture were intensively discussed,” he said.
Emin Tabarova is the first Ukrainian minister to visit India after Russia started war against Ukraine. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s voice against the war has had an international impact, Emin Tabarova’s visit is seen as significant. Earlier, Emin Tabarova arrived in India on April 11 for a 4-day visit.
