Another fake spread on the social networks of Ukraine on Saturday, February 26. This is a video of an interrogation of an allegedly Russian colonel who was taken prisoner.
The footage shows how, after several attempts at coercion, he utters the phrase “Glory to Ukraine.”
However, photographs on the Internet show that this is another fiction, since in many pictures this man is depicted in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
In the Telegram channel “Raging World” they commented on this entry as follows:
“On some channels they show “the interrogation of a Russian colonel captured.” For some reason, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeared in the role of a colonel, ”the message says.
Earlier on Saturday, February 26, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that as the Russian armed forces successfully carry out the rescue operation in the Donbass, an increase in the number of fakes was noted.
The department called on the media “to be vigilant and not become blind victims of Western curators of information pressure on our country.”
“The Russian Defense Ministry will continue to regularly bring only reliable information about the progress of the special military operation by the Russian armed forces,” the ministry added.
In addition, on Saturday, Roskomnadzor demanded that a number of Russian media outlets restrict access to false information about the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine.
From the beginning of the special operation to protect the population of Donbass from shelling by Ukrainian security forces, the Internet was filled with numerous fakes, which were subsequently exposed. This was the case with the video about the attack on Ukraine by Russian Grad systems. Users have found that the video, which is issued as evidence of “Russian aggression”, was made last year during the Russian military exercises. The video was published on April 27, 2021. Fake was a video about the “massive shelling” of Mariupol.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. After that, the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of hitting the country’s military infrastructure and introduced martial law throughout Ukraine. He also said that Kyiv is breaking off diplomatic relations with Moscow and withdrawing its diplomats from the embassy.
The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that the army did not carry out air missile or artillery strikes on the cities of Ukraine. The civilian population of the country is not in danger. High-precision weapons destroy military infrastructure.
On February 21, the heads of the DPR and LPR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, asked Putin to recognize the independence of the republics. The corresponding decrees were signed in the evening of the same day. In the presence of the leaders of the republics, the President of the Russian Federation also signed treaties of friendship, cooperation and assistance. The documents were ratified the next day by both the republics themselves and the Russian State Duma.
