The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) fired cluster munitions at Donetsk. This was reported on January 4 by the representative office of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) of issues related to war crimes by Ukraine.
“Shelling was recorded from the AFU in the direction: 21:30 – settlement. Kurakhovka – Donetsk (Petrovsky district): three shells of 155 mm caliber (cassette) were fired,” says the JCCC Telegram channel.
Later it became known about another shelling. At 22:00, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired three 155 mm cluster shells in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk.
Earlier that day, Ukrainian Armed Forces militants fired at the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk. As a result of the attack, windows in an apartment building were broken. There are shards of glass from broken windows near a residential building. Also in some apartments the walls were destroyed.
Also, the mayor of Donetsk, Alexey Kulemzin, said that two people were injured as a result of the dropping of ammunition from a drone in Donetsk.
The day before, Gorlovka Mayor Ivan Prikhodko reported that Ukrainian militants had shelled the city, resulting in damage to a boarding school. Since the beginning of the day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have fired eight 155 mm caliber shells, four of which are cluster shells.
Before this, on January 1, Prikhodko reported that a civilian had died as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian militants attacked the mine village named after V.I. Lenin.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
