Ukrainian TV presenter Fakhrudin Sharafmal, who called for the murder of Russian children on the air of the 24 channel, apologized for his statements.
“As for my tirade yesterday. I apologize, this was unacceptable from the point of view of a journalist and a person. Ukrainians are not like that, ”the presenter said during a new television broadcast.
The day before, the journalist quoted the words of the Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann, who said that in order to destroy a nation, one must begin with children so that they could not then avenge the death of their parents.
On March 16, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia stated that the head of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin instructed the investigators to give a legal assessment of the statements of the Ukrainian journalist. The UK noted that Sharafmal is a typical representative of Ukrainian nationalism.
On the same day, the Russian Embassy in Washington organized a hotline for Russians who suffered from xenophobia in the United States due to increased cases of discrimination.
Earlier, on March 11, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said that Russian-speaking children are discriminated against in schools and kindergartens in European countries, it becomes difficult for their parents to live and work in Western countries.
Then the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that in Ukraine and in a number of Western countries there is hatred towards Russians and citizens of the Russian Federation. He clarified that these issues have not yet been raised during international negotiations, but the growth of the Russophobic campaign may force Moscow to take appropriate measures.
The situation in Donbass escalated significantly in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and also turned to Moscow for help. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR, as well as treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance.
Russia launched an operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass on February 24. As Peskov clarified then, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
