Ukrainian “volunteer sniper” Elena Belozerskaya said she was ready to kill people in the Donbass. She spoke about this in an interview with the British newspaper The Sun.
In addition to the interview, the newspaper published a video showing Belozerskaya allegedly shooting at militias in the Donbass in 2017. The footage captures the view from the optical sight of a sniper rifle, then several people appear in the field of view, which are shot by a sniper. According to the newspaper, in the video Belozerskaya shoots at “Russian separatists” and “Russian soldiers”. At the same time, in the video, a woman is talking to a man who is next to her in Russian. The material also notes that the publication of the video made the sniper a “national hero.”
It is noted that at the time when this video was filmed, she was a volunteer, but now Belozerskaya joined the ranks of the Marine Corps of Ukraine. The sniper is credited with killing at least 10 people.
In an interview, she stated that she would not hesitate and was “ready to kill again” if Ukraine was “invaded” by Russian troops.
“Moral suffering due to the murder of a person was invented by people who are far from the war,” Belozerskaya said.
Earlier that day, the official representative of the People’s Militia of the self-proclaimed LPR, Ivan Filiponenko, noted that the preparation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) for an offensive in the Donbass had entered its final phase.
On February 3, the deputy head of the People’s Militia Department of the self-proclaimed DPR, Eduard Basurin, said that the Ukrainian army command was expecting heavy losses among its soldiers during the planned aggression in the Donbass. In addition, he said that the number of servicemen of the armed forces of Ukraine on the line of contact in the Donbass could reach 150,000 people, which is two-thirds of the troops.
On January 24, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that Kiev was preparing an offensive in the Donbass, pulling up artillery and tanks to the line of contact. He noted that “quite serious systems” “Smerch” and “Hurricane” also cause concern. In addition, the head of the DPR mentioned instructors from the United States and Great Britain, “who are almost openly photographed near their positions and posted on the Internet.”
Since 2014, the Ukrainian authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict.
Western politicians and media representatives in recent weeks continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied such statements. Moscow has stressed many times that it has no plans to invade a neighboring country.
On January 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia was not going to start a war with Ukraine. He clarified that it is necessary to force Kiev to comply with the Minsk agreements.
