Potchefstroom: Indian cricket team led by Shabali Verma has won the title of champion in the current Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup series. India beat England by 7 wickets in the final.
This is the first edition of the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup series. The series was held in South Africa. This started on the 14th. A total of 16 teams participated. The series was held in round robin and knock-out format.
How is the Indian team? – The Indian team played 3 matches in the Group-D category and won all 3 and became the first in that category.
Super 6 played 4 matches in Group-1 and won 3 of them. It also topped the Super 6 category. It qualified for the semi-finals. India won the semi-final against New Zealand by 8 wickets. It entered the final as the first team.
In the final match, England played a multi-test today. The Indian team won the toss and chose to bowl. England scored only 68 runs in 17.1 overs. On behalf of the Indian team, Archana Devi, Parshvi Chopra and Sadhu took 2 wickets each. Sonam Yadav, Shabali Verma and Mannath Kashyap took 1 wicket each. Soumya Tiwary had run out the England player.
India reached the target of 69 runs with the loss of 3 wickets at the end of 14 overs. India won by 7 wickets. Sadhu won the player of the match award after bowling 4 overs and taking 2 wickets for just 6 runs.
