New Delhi: The computerization of start-up agricultural credit unions was approved at a meeting of the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The decision was taken to increase the capacity of start-up agricultural credit societies and to bring transparency and accountability in its operations.
Furthermore, it has been reported that this will enable the start-up agricultural credit unions to carry out business activities and various services.
It is proposed to computerize 63,000 start-up agricultural credit societies in the country within 5 years. 2516 crore has been allocated for this. The share of the central government is 1528 crore rupees. It is estimated that 13 crore farmers, including small and medium farmers, will benefit from these credit unions.
