The Liverpool club management has begun working seriously to renew the contract of its first star, Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, after the strong statements made by the Reds’ top scorer after the end of his team’s match against Southampton.
The British newspaper “The Independent” said: “There is contact between the Liverpool club management and Mohamed Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, and the negotiations between them are positive so far.”
She added: “The absence of an offer does not mean the absence of talks, as Mohamed Salah mentioned after the Southampton match, and he explained the possibility of his departure at the end of the current season due to the failure to present a new contract from the management.”
The British newspaper explained that those close to Liverpool confirmed that communications with the player’s agent were continuing and positive, and in a similar way, some of those close to the situation interpreted Salah’s words and their timing as an attempt to force the club to retract the decision.
The report confirmed that Mohamed Salah does not yet want to move to the Saudi Professional League, and he did not want to either last summer.
The newspaper concluded: “The main problem facing Liverpool’s management is the extent to which Mohamed Salah continues to provide the same levels that he is showing this season, after reaching the age of 32.”
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is disappointed that club officials have not moved to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the current season, saying that the chances of him leaving the team are greater than his continuation.
Mohamed Salah raised the concerns of Liverpool fans after his prominent mark by scoring two goals in the 3-2 victory over Southampton yesterday, Sunday, which gave his team the opportunity to move away from the top of the English Premier League standings.
The Egyptian star is performing outstandingly this season, scoring 10 goals and 6 assists in the first 12 matches in the league championship, but there is ambiguity about the possibility of continuing his journey with Liverpool, which began eight seasons ago.
Salah told the media after the victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium: “We are approaching December, and I have not received any offers yet from the club’s management. Perhaps the chance of me leaving is greater than my continuity.”
He pointed out in statements highlighted by Sky Sports: “I have been at Liverpool for years, there is no club like it, but my fate is not in my hands, and as I said before, I have not received any indication about my future as the new month approaches.”
Salah confirmed, “Of course, I am disappointed not to receive any offer, and there is mutual love between me and the team’s fans, but the matter is not in my hands or in the hands of the fans. Let us wait and see what happens.”
The Liverpool star concluded his statements: “I will not retire soon, but I am focusing on playing only, and I am trying to win the league title, and perhaps the Champions League as well. I am disappointed, but we will see what happens.”
