Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate development projects worth Rs 15,700 crore, including the Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport and Ayodhya Railway Station in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister’s Office said. Modi will inaugurate projects worth Rs 11,100 crore for the development of Ayodhya and its surrounding areas and around Rs 4,600 crore for other long-term projects in the state.

Ayodhya’s new airport may be named after Adikavi Vathmiki. It is reported that the name of the new airport will be ‘Maharshi Watmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham’. The first phase of the new airport named ‘Maryada Purushottam Sriram International Airport’ will be inaugurated on Saturday. The flight service will start on January 6. Flights will operate to and from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
In the first phase, works worth over Rs 1,450 crore have been completed at Maryada Purushottam Sriram International Airport. Several domestic airlines have announced services from the temple city to major cities. 10 lakh passengers can travel annually. A terminal with an area of 65,000 square feet has been constructed in the first phase. The airport has a 2,200 meter long runway and the capacity to land and take off three flights per hour.
The renovated railway station was renamed as Ayodhya Dham Junction. The railway station has been constructed at a cost of Rs 430 crore. Can accommodate 100,000 passengers. The modern three-storey railway station building will have facilities like lifts, escalators, food counters, shops for puja purposes, cloak rooms, children’s rooms and waiting halls.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that the Prime Minister will flag off two new Amrit Bharat trains, a superfast passenger train and six new semi-high speed Vande Bharat trains in Ayodhya. Modi will inaugurate four newly upgraded and widened roads namely Rampath, Bhaktipath, Dharampath and Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Path. Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal said that all preparations have been made for the Prime Minister’s visit.
