Mumbai Veteran theater actor Alok Chatterjee passed away at 3 am today. Sigma Upadhyay has given this information through his Facebook post. According to the information, he was suffering from illness for a long time. Infection had spread in his body. Apart from this, many of his organs had stopped functioning, due to which he died.
His (Alok Chatterjee) demise has also been confirmed by Bhopal theater artist Balendra Balu. He said, “He died last night around 11-12 o’clock. He was ill for a long time. He was suffering from many diseases. His gallbladder was also removed. There were also problems with the kidneys and pancreas. Yesterday his health deteriorated so much that he was admitted to the ICU of Bansal Hospital. He breathed his last last night.”
His last journey will leave from his residence -B-13 Fine Campus, Kolar Road towards Bhadbhada Resting Ground between 1:30 pm to 2 pm. Alok Chatterjee also had a close friendship with veteran Hindi cinema actor Irrfan Khan. Both of them studied together at the National School of Drama from 1984 to 1987. Both of them also played lead roles in plays for three years.
The contribution of Alok Chatterjee has been very important in the history of Indian theatre. His dedication and talent towards acting was always appreciated by the theater world. The actor spread the magic of his acting in many major dramas and created a special place in the hearts of the audience. He was also honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his contribution.
