The President’s Cup final witnesses a historic confrontation between Al-Nasr and Al-Wasl, which took place for the first time in 38 years, following Al-Nasr’s victory over Shabab Al-Ahly (4-3), in the semi-finals, to qualify to face Al-Wasl in the final match, which will be held at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Ain, and it was determined on the 17th of this month.
Al-Wasl had also qualified for the final match after its victory, last Tuesday, over Ittihad Kalba (4-1), in the match that brought together the two teams at Sharjah Stadium.

For his part, Al-Nasr coach, Dutchman Alfred Schroeder, expressed his happiness with the victory achieved by his team over Shabab Al-Ahly. He said in a press conference: “I am proud of my team after we played a crazy match in which we missed many opportunities.” He added: “I asked the Al-Nasr players to be patient, and I consider that my team played well and provided everything required in football.”
He continued: “It is not easy for us to lose a large number of players against a team as strong as Shabab Al-Ahly, but we trained together during the last period, and if you train well, you will see this reflected in the performance on the field.”
Schroeder spoke about the course of the match, and said: “We played well, and Al-Ahly youth relied on waiting for the mistakes we made. We presented a lesson in patience and dealing with the course of the meeting.”
He continued: “The fourth goal decided the match in our favor, despite Shabab Al-Ahly scoring the third goal, and the great pressure on their part to score the equalizer in the last minutes of the fourth extra period. Therefore, I am proud of the players, their performance, and their qualification to the final of the Ghalia Championship.”
As for facing Al-Wasl in the final match, he said: “We will play with the best team currently at the top of the league, and close to clinching the title, but we will focus on our next match against Al-Wahda, while we will think about the cup final when the date of the match is set.”
