It is known that star writer Vijayendra Prasad is preparing the script for Rajamouli’s next SSMB29 with Mahesh Babu. But before that he is coming up with another project. The 17th century general Lachit Borphukan Story is being brought in the form of a novel called ‘Brahmaputra: The Ahom Son Rises’. For this, Rajya Sabha MP Vijayendra Prasad is working with Kulpreet Yadav, a naval officer turned spy fiction writer. HarperCollins Publishers India is releasing this novel on May 30.
Lachit Borphukan was once a general in the Ahom kingdom of Assam. He was recognized for his leadership skills in the battle of Saraighat in 1671. Lachit defeated the Mughals many times and recaptured Guwahati from them.
This story is a mix of action and romance. Lachit… falls in love with Princess Padmini, the daughter of Swargadev Jayadhwaja Singha who ruled the Ahom Kingdom. After learning about their romance, Raju sends Lachit out of the capital Jorhat. A few days later Aurangzeb’s forces attacked the Ahom capital. So Swarga Dev hands over a part of the kingdom to the Mughals. But Lachit, who is determined to protect the capital city, which is gradually under threat, along with Prince Chakradhvaj.. How will this war change the future of the Ahom kingdom? is the story.

Kulpreet Yadav contributed writing to Vijayendra Prasad for this ‘Brahmaputra’ novel. He served as an officer of the Naval Officers Academy for two decades. During his entire career he successfully piloted three ships. Since retiring from the Indian Coast Guard in 2014, he has written books in genres like ‘espionage, military history, true crime’. His latest book is ‘The Battle of Rezong Law’ (Penguin 2021).
