Brazilian Vinicius Junior, the star of the Spanish team Real Madrid, won the FIFA award for the best player in the world for the current year 2024, during the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) awards ceremony, which is held in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday.
Vinicius Junior received the award from Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA.
The Brazilian star said after receiving the award: “I do not know where I will start, but it was impossible to imagine that I would reach this position when I was a child playing in the street in a poor environment. Arriving here is an inspiration for children, and I thank the players, coaches and journalists who voted for me. A very important award.”
He continued, “I also thank my family who helped me achieve my dream, and I thank club president Florentino Perez, and coach Carlo Ancelotti, who trusted me a lot.”
The Brazilian winger continued, “I strive to definitely make a difference with the help of my teammates this season, and to continue for a long time with Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world.”
Vinicius Junior concluded his message, “I thank the Brazilian club Flamengo, which gave me the opportunity to play football at the professional level, and I also thank my colleagues in the Brazilian national team for helping me and giving me strength.”
