New Delhi: In a letter written by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the TV channels, it has been stated that: In recent times, privacy violation has emerged as a major issue in TV channel broadcast content. The contents are found to be malicious and defamatory.
Television has become a common platform for entertainment among segments including the elderly, middle-aged, young children, and families of all socio-economic backgrounds. In this scenario, TV channels are at a place where they have to exercise more responsibility and discipline. For that purpose, program rules, advertisement rules have been created.

However, it is common practice to broadcast content taken from social media without any changes. For example, Rishabh Bhandkar’s accident news was aired without covering his face with blood. The same was true of the news published by TV channels about the incident of a woman being trapped and killed in Delhi. Broadcasts containing such content can have a negative psychological impact on children. It also creates fear in the elderly.
It will also pave the way for termination of services of channels violating the program norms. Channels should realize their responsibilities and publish news. This was stated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
