Major General Khalifa Harib, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior of the UAE, Major General Jamal Al Saeeq, Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs of Kuwait and Head of the Technical Team for Interconnecting Traffic Systems, said in a statement by the Directorate General of Security Relations and Media that the ceremony was held as part of the inauguration of the project. Al-Saikh stated that this project is a starting point for connecting all other security services between the two countries. This will help to increase the effectiveness of mutual cooperation and strengthen security among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. He said that the process of connecting the traffic system implemented as part of increasing cooperation and coordination between the GCC countries has been going on for the last eight months.

With the implementation of the new scheme, a system will be implemented to collect fines for traffic violations in Kuwait, even if the vehicle reaches the UAE. Similarly, violations of traffic laws in the UAE will also face action in Kuwait. As part of this, information and technology in the field of transport will be exchanged. In this regard, technical experts of both the countries have held many consultations. Officials said that the new system is being implemented as part of the objective of raising the standard of living of the people of the GCC. A mechanism is in place to levy fines in this regard and transfer them to the concerned countries. Qatar and Bahrain had earlier implemented a similar system in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Interior.
