Imphal: 13 people died in the violent incident in Manipur. The security forces have confirmed that these 13 people were killed in the firing that took place in Tengnopal district of Manipur.
In this regard, the security forces said, “Information was received that there was a clash between two armed groups in Leitu village in Saipal area of Dengpal district. A security forces camp was located 10 km from the incident site.
The fighting was over by the time security forces moved from the camp to Leitu village. But there were 13 dead bodies. There were no weapons near them. None of the dead looked like they were from Leyte.
They may have come from some other area. It is reported that there may have been a clash with some armed group here. At the same time, the police and security forces did not reveal the identity of the 13 people who died. Security forces have been deployed across the area to quell the tension.
Since last May, a fierce conflict has been going on between Manipur’s Maithei and Kuki communities. Riots spread throughout the state and turned into a war zone. More than 170 people died. Tens of thousands lost their livelihoods. However, recently, some peace has returned. In this case, the clash broke out again and 13 people lost their lives.
