The government has decided to increase four welfare pensions in the state to 1600 rupees. This decision was announced by Finance Minister KN Balagopal. The pension amounts of Vishwakarma, Circus, Avasha sportsperson and Avasha artist have been increased. The disabled artist pension is currently Rs.1000. Disabled athletes were getting Rs 1300, circus artists were getting Rs 1200 and Vishwakarma pension was Rs 1400. These amounts have been increased to 1600.

The promise was to raise all the welfare pensions to Rs.2500. Currently 59.5 lakh people are getting social welfare pensions. There will be a change in the way that all of them will get a pension of Rs 2500 within five years. It will have to increase by 900 rupees. This will result in an additional burden of Rs 53.5 crore to the exchequer.

The monthly salary of Anganwadi and Asha workers in the state was increased by Rs. 1000 last day. This salary will be available from December 1. Anganwadi workers and helpers will get Rs 1000 and those with less than ten years of service will get Rs 500 more. There are 88,977 Anganwadi teachers and helpers in the state. There are 26,125 Asha workers in the state.
