Izvestia correspondent Alexei Poltoranin on Tuesday, July 4, showed the restoration of the city of Shebekino in the Belgorod region after Ukrainian shelling, and also talked with local residents.
“There were traces of Ukrainian ammunition on the facade of the house, the shell itself fell a few meters from the house. The funnel, it was here (pointing to a section of the road. – Ed.), The builders have already rolled it into asphalt, ”the correspondent reports.
Builders from scratch erect the roof of the damaged hostel. The roof was completely burnt out after massive Ukrainian strikes.
“Friends called here: come, you are needed here, to make roofs. So I arrived,” said builder Rafkat Galimov.
The city of Shebekino is now one big construction site. Workers need to have time to repair residential buildings before August 1. In the house where the Kalugin family lives, all the windows were replaced. Before the shell hit the yard, the couple managed to leave the city – they returned three days ago.
“There was no water, no light, nothing at all. Yes, we did not think about it, we ran away. It was very scary. Until now, everything is pounding and tears, ”Nadezhda Kalugina shared.
Demyan Georgievich and Lyudmila Borisovna have nowhere to return yet, but the workers have already begun to restore the house. That morning, when Ukrainian militants opened fire on the city, the spouses remember constantly. They also expressed hope that they would be able to return to their apartments in the near future.
Those people whose housing has survived, a month later come back. Moreover, the situation allows – the shelling of the city has stopped. In total, more than 800 private houses and apartment buildings were damaged in Shebekino. Some had to be demolished, but new housing will be built in their place by the end of the year, the correspondent concluded.

They show how workers are repairing the roofs and facades of damaged buildings. At the same time, specialists are cleaning the territories.
Local residents are already sleeping in renovated houses. One of the residents of Shebekino said that the window in her apartment was changed: it was damaged when the hostess was already in the temporary accommodation center. The woman also said that shops are already opening in the city.
Earlier, on June 25, due to the improvement of the operational situation, the entrance to the city of Shebekino and Novaya Tavolzhanka was opened. Gladkov noted that restoration work continues in the Shebekinsky district, they are planned to be completed by August 1.
It was necessary to restore the city after shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of them happened on May 26th. Then, as a result of shelling in the Shebekinsky urban district, a man was wounded. Various damages were recorded on six vehicles. In addition, the roadbed and traffic lights were broken, there is damage to the street gas pipeline.
The strikes on the Russian border regions were Kyiv’s reaction to the ongoing special operation to protect the Donbass. Its beginning was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022 against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
