The incident of VRA committing suicide due to poverty and debt is causing a stir in Telangana. VRA wanted Ashok from Bollaram village of Nagireddypet mandal of Kamareddy district committed suicide on Saturday (September 3) night. Ashok actively participated in the 42-day protests organized by VRAs with the demand of implementation of pay scale. Ashok was upset because the pay scale was not implemented and the salary was not paid during the strike period. On the other hand, due to the stress of debts, he committed suicide. Ashok is 28 years old. He has a wife and a son.
Ashok, who had gone out on a bike after dinner on Saturday night, did not return and was found hanging from a tree on Dalmal Gutta near the village in the early hours of Sunday morning, his father said. He complained to the police that he committed suicide because of the non-implementation of the pay scale. In the wake of Ashok’s suicide, there was a big agitation in the VRA.
Nagireddypet police shifted Ashok’s body to Ellareddy Government Hospital for post-mortem, but they were stopped by a large number of VRAs from Bansuwada, Kamareddy and Ellareddy divisions. A protest was held by placing the dead body on the road. They raised slogans against the state government. They demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to Ashok’s family and a government job for one of the family.
When the police tried to take the dead body from the road to the post-mortem room, a scuffle broke out when the VRAs blocked it. After that Ella Reddy MLA Surender spoke to them on phone. They promised to give a government job to one of the victim’s family members. Later, when the VRAs stopped agitating, the police conducted a postmortem on Ashok’s body with doctors and handed it over to the family members. The opposition parties are angry with the government over the VRA Ashok suicide incident.
