Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today, after a meeting in Belgrade with political representatives of Serbs from Kosovo, that they discussed all the problems, the security situation, the dissatisfaction of the Serbs due to the violation of the license plate agreement and other agreements, reports Anadolia.
He pointed out that his idea was to come to an agreement today and come out with positions, but that was not possible.
“We agreed to continue working together with all our teams in the next seven days, so that we could come out with a joint statement for all the events that are ahead of us, from the elections that some have scheduled for April 23, in which the Serbs will not participate,” said Vučić at the press conference.
He added that the meeting also discussed the further economic and social progress of the Serbian population in Kosovo and what the state of Serbia can do for the most vulnerable people.
He pointed out that at the meeting, both people from the north and the south of Kosovo showed enormous indignation and anger, both at the leadership in Pristina and because of the silence of the international community. He added that Serbs from Kosovo are looking for greater and more significant support from the state of Serbia.
“Of course, I listened and understood everything they said. I tried to explain the situation we are in, but also to try to find some solutions together with them, so that they could live easier and more peacefully,” said Vučić, adding that are people who are particularly outraged by the arrest of Serbs.
“It’s an attempt to clean up the north of Kosovo. People don’t want to put up with that anymore. My request was to preserve peace always and in every way. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not too optimistic and I’m afraid that some people didn’t understand that it’s not the essence whether we want to make a concession on some pointless bureaucratic issues, the essence is in the formation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities and the cessation of jeopardizing the security of the Serbian population,” Vučić pointed out and added at the end:
“Their only wish is that there will be no Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. My message is that this will not happen. There will be Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, it is their home, it is their homeland, that’s how it was and that’s how it will be.”
