Pakistan’s white-ball cricketer, especially T20 middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed on Sunday joined former Pakistan left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz’s record by hitting six sixes in a single over.
Wahab Riaz is no ordinary bowler. All the deliveries he bowled to Australia’s Shane Watson during the 2015 World Cup in left-arm fast bowling were terrifying. Shane Watson was lucky to escape without getting hit that day. He took 735 wickets in all first-class cricket. Wahab Riaz is a much better left-arm fast bowler than the stats suggest.
But, he is now 37 years old. However, he is still a threat in the Pakistan Super League T20 series. But the surprise is that Iftikhar Ahmed hit him for 6 sixes in one over.
The exhibition match for the Pakistan Super League was held yesterday. In this, Iftikhar, who played for Quetta Gladiators, joined the record list by hitting 6 sixes in one over against Wahab Riaz’s Peshawar Jalami team.
Iftikhar Ahmed, who had reached his fifty off 42 balls, was on strike in the 20th over bowled by Wahab Riaz. Then the Sixers flew across the field in unbelievable aggression. 6 sixes in one over to fly the last 2 sixes to the third man boundary, that too off Wahab Riaz.
Prior to this, Gary Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Hershel Gibbs (first in an ODI, Gibbs hit 6 sixes in a single over in the 2007 FIFTY World Cup), Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley, Hazratullah Sasai, Leo Carter, Kiran Pollard, Thisara Perera had 6 in a single over. They hit sixes.
