The details of the incident were revealed by Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagwat at a media conference. He said a gang was caught smuggling cannabis from Visakhapatnam to Maharashtra via Hyderabad via Hyderabad at around midnight yesterday. Five people were arrested. Larry and the car were seized from them. Larry explained that he had put packets of marijuana in the back and covered it with fertilizer on top.
Cannabis is being bought in Visakhapatnam for Rs 8,000 per kg and is being sold in Maharashtra for Rs 15,000, CP said. It was revealed that the gang was smuggling cannabis to Solapur through Narsipatnam, Rajahmundry and Chautaupal areas. They said they did the checks after getting the information beforehand. The value of the seized cannabis is said to be over Rs 3 crore. CP said he had caught a gang moving 1,200 kilograms of marijuana in the same way under the week.
