The Sudanese army warned, in the early hours of Thursday morning, of what it described as “the mobilization of forces and an openness inside the capital and some cities,” by the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces. In a video statement broadcast by SUNA on its YouTube page, he said that the RSF’s actions constitute a “clear violation of the law.”
He also warned that “the country is going through a dangerous turning point, which increased after the Rapid Support Forces mobilized forces and opened up inside the capital and some cities,” noting that these moves took place without the approval of the Armed Forces Command and without coordination with it.
In addition, he warned that the continuation of what he described as abuses would lead to more divisions and tensions that might lead to the collapse of the security contract in the country.
Struggle eliminates green and land
He pointed out that he does not want an armed conflict to break out, warning the political forces against the dangers of outbidding the positions of the national armed forces.
This came, after sources confirmed to Al-Arabiya earlier that the army had deployed forces in the Marawi region in the northern state of the country, in anticipation of any security chaos.
The sources pointed out that the army gave an ultimatum to the Rapid Support Forces to leave Marawi.
Express support denies
On the other hand, the Rapid Support Forces denied allegations of carrying out military operations towards Marawi Airport. It confirmed that the presence of its forces in the northern state comes within the framework of performing their duties and tasks, as is the case in the rest of the states.
It also indicated in a statement yesterday that it is working in coordination with the Armed Forces Command and the rest of the other regular forces.
The Marawi area witnessed tension between the RSF and the army, after a force of more than 100 vehicles from the RSF arrived in the city of Marawi.
While informed sources indicated that the army forces refused to station the Rapid Support Forces in the area, which had justified their deployment there by owning agricultural land near Marawi airport. She pointed out that the rapid support had started at the beginning of the month of Ramadan and through one of the notables in the area in building a fence and facilities in the land adjacent to the airport.
