The coach of the Sharjah team, the Romanian Olario Cosmin, is still not satisfied with his team’s performance, especially with regard to the offensive aspect, as the team – which is at the top of the standings in the ADNOC Professional Football League competition – suffers from the phenomenon of wasting opportunities.
The “King” players shot 33 balls towards the opponents’ goal during the four matches that the team played in the league championship, of which they scored 11 goals.
The players shot 12 times in the Dibba Al-Hisn match in the first round, resulting in four goals, and in the Kalba match in the second round, the team shot four times, resulting in one goal. In the match with Al-Jazira in the third round, the team shot seven times, scoring four goals, while the match the day before yesterday against Al-Bataeh witnessed 10 shots, resulting in two goals.
Cosmin said, in a press conference after the important victory with two clean goals, over his neighbor Al-Bataeh, that his team deserved to win the match, pointing out that all his concern at the present time is for his players to put an end to the number of opportunities they wasted in the matches.
The Romanian coach pointed out that Sharjah had many chances in the first half, adding: “As usual, we missed many chances, but in the second half we were able to score, and then the course of the match changed, and as a result my team deserved victory in the match.”
On the other hand, the coach of the Al-Bataeh team, the Croatian Goran Tomic, expressed his dissatisfaction with the loss, blaming the mistakes the team made, and said: “Sharjah deserved to win against us. We were not at our level and did not provide the performance expected of us, especially in the first half. We did not have possession of the ball and made many mistakes.”
The coach, who leads Al-Raqi for the second season in a row, added: “We made some changes in the second half. At the moment when we were looking for stability in our performance, we received the first goal in the 65th minute, and the second goal came two minutes later. We must analyze the mistakes we made and prepare for our next matches.”
