With the repeated attacks on the famous Kober prison in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, yesterday, Sunday, which includes the most prominent former leaders of the Omar al-Bashir regime, including the ousted president himself, a video of a prisoner trying to untie his chains to escape spread on social media.
The rolling clip showed one of the inmates trying to help him.
clashes in its vicinity
It is noteworthy that Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath sources confirmed yesterday that the prison was subjected to clashes in its vicinity.
It also pointed out that many prisoners had been released due to the lack of water, but stressed that the political prisoners in Kobar are still being held.
Suba and guidance
This came, after several prisons in Khartoum were subjected to previous attacks and detainees escaped, during the clashes between the Rapid Support Forces and the army since last week.
On the night of Saturday-Sunday, it was reported that a number of inmates of Soba prison, south of the capital, had escaped after their release by the Rapid Support Forces, according to what a number of them confirmed in video clips spread among Sudanese on social media.
A few days ago, Al-Huda prison in Khartoum was also subjected to attacks, and prisoners escaped.
Fear of targeting scenarios
It is noteworthy that Kober prison, where Al-Bashir and a number of the leaders of his former regime are held, was subjected to artillery shelling a few days ago, which led to the death of 5 prisoners at the time, amid fears of scenarios targeting this high-security prison, and the release of “Islamists from the era of Al-Bashir.”
This prison, which extends over an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, is located in the city of Khartoum North, and includes 14 sections, including a section for those convicted of death sentences, a second for criminals, a third for long and short sentences, and a fourth for political detainees.
