New Delhi. Google has clarified that it will not remove accounts containing YouTube videos, after announcing that it will remove personal accounts and their content that have not been used or signed in for at least two years.
The company updated its blog post to say, “At this time, we have no plans to remove accounts containing YouTube videos.”
It came as a relief to many users that Google is yet to take any action regarding YouTube videos.
Later this year, if a Google Account hasn’t been used or signed in to for at least 2 years, the company may delete the account and its content, including Google Workspaces (Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Calendar) and content from Google Photos.
The policy only applies to personal Google Accounts, and won’t affect accounts like schools or businesses.
Google said, if the policy takes effect now, it will not immediately affect users with inactive accounts and will start deleting accounts from December 2023.
