The speeding Grupa Azoty Unia Tarnów lost in the last round in Rzeszów and is now waiting for news from Daugavpils. The match will start on Sunday at 15.00.
Lokomotiv no longer stands a chance
However, the EU is waiting for news from Latvia with great calm. Because even if Lokomotiv equals the Union in the number of big points, it means nothing. In such a situation, the balance of direct matches is decisive, and if there is equality here, then the number of small points determines the higher place.
With direct matches between Unia and Lokomotiv we have a draw here (41:37 for Unia in one game and 47:43 for Lokomotiv in the second game). And when it comes to small points, the Union has plus 43, and Lokomotiv minus 48. And even if the Latvians win with Metalica Recycling Kolejarz Rawicz 75:15 (the highest possible score in speedway), they will not overtake the Union. At best, they will have 12 small points in the plus. They are far from 43 Union. Another thing is that Lokomotiv, in order to match the big points with Unia, must win with Kolejarz at least 57:33 (in Rawicz the Latvians lost 33:56).
If Start wins with Polonia, this is how the play-off pairs will look like
On Sunday we still have a match between Ultrapur Startu Gniezno and Enea Polonia Piła. In the first match there was a draw (45:45), so if Start wins now, it will score 3 points and jump to second place. That will most likely happen.
After the last matches, the top four will look like this: 1. Steel, 2. Start, 3. Kolejarz, 4. Unia, which gives us semi-final pairs: Unia – Steel, Kolejarz – Start.
And although Stal and Start are the favorites, they have to be careful. Before the last round, the railwayman rented Nazar Parnicki from Fogo Unii Leszno and Piotr Świercz from Cellfast Wilków Krosno. The Union has also recently strengthened with Szymon Bańdur and Paweł Month. Certainly, Unia and Kolejarz have potential and can play a trick.
