New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee has said that the Prime Ministerial candidate of the India Alliance will be decided after the elections.
Mamata Banerjee met the media today in New Delhi as the 4th consultative meeting of India Alliance is going to be held in New Delhi tomorrow. Answering various questions raised by reporters at that time, he said: “We will decide the prime ministerial candidate of the India Alliance together after the election. You ask what will be the role of the main Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the India alliance? I can’t say anything about the other party. At the same time, I am ready to participate in public meetings to campaign with every party in the India Alliance.
You are asking about the security breach in the Lok Sabha. If they cannot protect the Parliament itself, how will they protect the country. This is a very deep question. An impartial inquiry should be conducted into the matter. Several Members of Parliament have been suspended for the entire session. Thus there cannot be a total suspension. But they feel that Parliament is the supreme authority. Why are they afraid? How will opposition members raise questions if they are suspended?
Three bills have been passed in Parliament. They are very important. The Criminal Law Bill has also been passed. This regime is going to end in 3 or 4 months. A new regime is coming. Why do they take such decisions in this context? They have no moral right to run parliament after suspending opposition MPs. This is a travesty of democracy,” said Mamata Banerjee.
