Lords: England captain Jos Buttler has said that we will try to retain the title of champion in the World Cup cricket series.
England won the final and 4th ODI against New Zealand by 100 runs to clinch the ODI series 3-1. The England team batted first in the last match at Lord’s Stadium in London last night and scored 311 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs.
David Malan scored 127, Jos Buttler 36, Joe Root 29 and Liam Livingston added 28 runs. Batting with a target of 312 runs, the New Zealand team was bowled out for 211 runs in 38.2 overs. Rachin Ravindra 61, Henry Nicholls 41 and Glenn Phillips added 25 runs. Moeen Ali took 4 wickets for England.
England captain Jos Buttler said after the win, “We want to play our style of cricket. David Malan played brilliantly. He played aggressively and put the bowlers under pressure. And he knew the situation of the game very well. We got off to a great start with the ball.
As a result, we fell wickets quickly. We know what Moeen Ali and Liam Livingston can do. This gives us a deep array. We are in a good position to retain the World Cup. The team is well structured. Let’s go to India and try to win. But the other teammates will be in the same position. This will make the World Cup series interesting this time,” he said.
