India is more strategically important than Canada to America. He compared Canada getting into a conflict with India as ‘ant getting into a fight with an elephant’.
Rubin, citing poor approval ratings for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, won’t last long as prime minister. He said that America can repair its relationship with Canada after he steps down from power.
“In my opinion, Prime Minister Trudeau has made a big mistake. He has made allegations that he cannot justify. He has not been careful with his words and there is no evidence to support the allegations he has made against the government. This is a case where he needs to explain why this government harbored a terrorist.” A former Pentagon official said.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar, whom India has declared a terrorist, was shot dead on June 18 in a parking lot outside a gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, a stronghold of Khalistan supporters.
After Trudeau stepped down…
“I imagine that America doesn’t want to take sides in choosing between two friends. But if we have to choose between two friends, we are going to choose India for the most part. Because Niger is a terrorist and India is very important. Our relations are also very important.” Michael Rubin said.
“Justin Trudeau probably won’t be Prime Minister of Canada for much longer. We can rebuild our relationship after he leaves office,” he said.
“As someone who has been reviewing intelligence, I can say that most of the time, telephone conversation or any other intelligence is not clear, not completely reliable. I experienced this very well with the Iraq war,” he said.
Laden was also an engineer
“When faced with such a situation, maybe Prime Minister Trudeau would have raised the issue. But there was no necessary consensus on the meaning of his statement. Also, let’s not fool ourselves. Nijr was not an ordinary plumber. Besides, Osama bin Laden was a construction engineer. He had blood on his hands from many attacks.” He batted for India.
“Honestly speaking, this is more dangerous for Canada than India. If Canada wants a conflict, it will be like an ant going to war with an elephant. India is the world’s largest democracy. India is strategically more important than Canada in terms of the alarming situations in China and the Indian Ocean region and other issues in the Pacific,” he said.
