Miss Universe and Miss Worldare the two beauty pageantsmost popular in the world, where models from dozens of countries participate with the ultimate goal of winning the precious scepters of each competition. However, there are those who often confuse these two competitions. In this note we explain the differences between the two.
What is Miss World?
The Miss Worldisa very popular beauty pageant in Europe and Asia, founded by the British Morley family in 1951. Since its founding, the Morleys have owned the pageant, and have not handed it over to other hands.
As an organization that seeks the social commitment of its candidates, Miss World has as its charitable arm Beauty with a Purpose, which each year gives tens of thousands of young women “the opportunity to use their abilities to make a real and lasting contribution to the lives of the sick and marginalized ”.

What are the differences between Miss Universe and Miss World?
A fundamental difference is that miss Universe values more the size and intelligence of the candidates, while miss World look for an award-winning social or environmentally committed, with great personality and that denotes physical health.
The age range to compete varies according to the contest: Miss World allows women from 17 to 24 years old to participate, and Miss Universe does the same with women from 18 to 27 years old. In both cases, the candidates must have won the national contest or be substitutes for the winner, in addition to not being married and not having children.
Another distinction lies in the popularity of these contests in different parts of the planet: while Miss Universe is more followed in the United States and Latin America, Miss World is more popular in Europe, Asia and Africa.
We can also observe the differences between the two organizations regarding the recognition of different gender identities: Miss Universe admits trans candidates, but Miss World does not.
