New Delhi . Meta-owned WhatsApp banned over 2.3 million bad accounts in India in July under new IT rules, 2021. The company gave this information on Thursday. WhatsApp also received 574 complaints in the month of July in India, and took action on 27.
The platform, which has over 400 million users in the country, had banned over 22 lakh accounts with poor records in June.
A company spokesperson said, “As per IT Rules 2021, we have published our report for July 2022. As recorded in the monthly report, WhatsApp logged over 2.3 million accounts (2,387,000) in the month of July. has been banned.”
Published in accordance with 4(1)(d) of the Information Technology Rules, 2021, the report contains data on the action taken by WhatsApp on complaints received from users in India.
The objections were received through the grievance mechanism and the accounts for the violation of the Terms of Service were processed in the manner of its prevention and detection.
Under the IT Rules 2021, major digital and social media platforms with over 5 million users are required to publish a monthly compliance report.
