WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook, Meta’s social networks, were unstable this Friday afternoon (16). Downdetector, a platform that gathers reports of instability on websites and applications, had a spike in complaints about the difficulty of accessing the three services.
Around 4 pm this Friday, the platform had about 6,800 indications about WhatsApp. The name of the messaging app was also trending on Twitter at that time, with many users reporting problems sending audio messages.
Instagram, with 1,300 complaints on Downdetector, and Facebook, with around 400, also showed instability. “Facebook is currently down for mandatory maintenance, but should be back in a few minutes. We appreciate your patience as we improve the site,” read a message on the social network. By 17:00, the complaints had already stabilized.
“We are aware that some people are having problems accessing our products. We are working to get everything back to normal as soon as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Meta said in a statement.
