The WhatsApp instant messaging application is currently testing the feature of editing messages after they are sent, and the application developers are making more amendments to them in preparation for its launch soon.
The feature of modifying messages in WhatsApp is being tested after sending it since the middle of last year until now, as reports indicate that the feature has entered the final stages of the development process, before it is launched to all users.
WhatsApp developers have made a change to the message modification feature that was spotted in the latest beta version, as a pop-up window will appear to the user stating that the message has been successfully modified after completing the modification.
Users of the beta version of the application on the computer “WhatsApp Web” also noticed that the feature has already begun to appear to them, such as the experimental mobile application.
The new feature allows WhatsApp users to modify messages after sending them to the other party in individual conversations or within chat groups, provided that this is only within 15 minutes after sending them, otherwise the user will not be able to modify them.
The feature represents an alternative option for users if they believe that a message they have sent is inappropriate or misspelled, for example, instead of deleting the message or sending another message for correction.
It is mentioned that any message being modified will be marked with the word “modified” or “Edited” so that all parties to the conversation know that the message has been modified after sending.
This feature is considered one of the most awaited features of WhatsApp users, and its launch is imminent now, after a long trial period.
Mita – the parent company of the application – launched the feature of running a WhatsApp account on more than one phone at the same time in the recent period, and it is also testing other important advantages such as the ability to transfer conversations from one phone to another directly via Wi-Fi without making a backup.
