WABetaInfo reported on Saturday that the WhatsApp instant messaging service is testing a new feature, the aim of which is to increase users’ privacy.
The website, which specializes in monitoring experimental features in the Meta WhatsApp service, said that after announcing new privacy features in group chats, and the ability to send voice messages to listen only once, it discovered another privacy feature under development.
And “WABetaInfo” monitored the new feature in version 2.23.8.2 of the WhatsApp application for Google’s Android operating system, which allows users to lock a specific chat using a fingerprint or passcode.
“We are sure that users can get an extra layer of security by using this feature, and keep their sensitive chats safe from prying eyes,” the site said.
And “WABetaInfo” published a screenshot of the new feature, which shows that after adding a chat to the list of locked chats, it will only be available within that screen, and after locking the chat, it will only be allowed to access it using a fingerprint or passcode, which makes it possible to open it before. someone else impossible.
In addition, if someone tries to access the phone and fails to provide the necessary authentication, they will be required to scan the chat to unlock it.
This feature is believed to provide an additional layer of privacy for sensitive conversations, as it allows users to protect their privacy by preventing others from reading their messages. This feature also helps maintain the privacy of multimedia, as it ensures that media files such as photos and videos sent in a locked chat are not automatically saved in the device gallery.
It is noteworthy that the WhatsApp service is testing many features, such as: the short video message feature, the feature of listening to voice messages once, and the voice chats feature, and it is continuing to develop the feature of modifying sent messages.
Those wishing to try out the new features can sign up for the WhatsApp beta program on Android, and the latest beta version of the app can also be downloaded and installed manually from here. You can also sign up for the iOS beta program here.
