The Social Security Administration (SSA) reported that, In early December, beneficiaries of your programs will begin to receive online notices related to the new COLA increase by 2024 through the online tool “my Social Security”.
Through the platform on the Social Security website, people You will receive advance notifications about the 3.2% increase in monthly checks starting in January.
Information on the ssa.gov website indicates that Creating an account on my Social Security is the fastest way to receive adjustment updates.
“If you want to know the new benefit amount beforehand, you can Securely get your Social Security COLA notification online using the Message Center in your personal account (on the SSA website),” the office explains in a blog on its website.
“You can access this information in early December before receiving notification by mail (postal). Benefit amounts will not be available before December. Since you will receive the COLA notification online and by mail, you do not need to contact us to find out your new benefit amount,” they added.
It is important that you open the account before November 14 to be able to use the tool.
In case you do not enable an account through this service, You will receive a letter in the mail sometime in December with information about the increase.
“We send emails with COLA notifications throughout the month of December. It is possible that your friend or relative receives the notification in their email before you. Please, Please wait until January before contacting us about your mail notification”adds the SSA.
“COLA notifications will be available online for most beneficiaries through the Message Center from your personal account in ‘my Social Security’ if you create the account by November 14. my Social Security is a secure and convenient way to receive notifications online and save the message for later. You can also choose to stop receiving notifications by postal mail that are available online,” the office warns.

Apart from messages about the increase, you can carry out other procedures through the application, such as request a replacement Social Security card, check the status of an applicationrequest an estimate of future benefits and manage the benefits you already receive.
The first checks with the increase will be sent on December 29 to beneficiaries of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program.
The SSA will be sending the rest of the checks throughout the month of January. The entity is guided by a calendar that is based on people’s birthdays to order shipments.
Every Wednesday, the SSA sends out a new round of checks.
