Currency In ATM: In 2016, the central government introduced Rs.500 and Rs.2,000 notes to curb black money. However, the Rs.2,000 note has not been seen in the market for a few months. Rs.500 notes are seen in ATMs, banks, everywhere. So far, Rs. 2 thousand notes have been lost. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman (FM Nirmala Sitharaman) answered the question why banks are not putting ATM centers in Parliament. However, no instructions were given to put Rs.2000 notes in the ATMs or not. It has been clarified that the banks themselves will decide whether to put Rs.2 thousand notes in the automated teller machines (atm currency).
According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) annual report, the value of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 currency notes in circulation at the end of March 2017 was Rs 9.512 lakh crore. After that, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave a written answer in the Lok Sabha that by the end of March 2022, it will reach Rs.27.057 lakh crore. Banks have not been given any instructions not to put Rs 2000 notes in ATMs. According to the past trend, consumer needs and seasonal trend, the banks themselves decide what kind of notes to put in the ATMs.’ He clarified that.
Answering another question, he said that by the end of March 31, 2023, the debt taken by the central government is estimated to be Rs. 155.8 lakh crore. This is 57.3 percent of the country’s GDP. On the other hand, if the value of external debt is taken at the current exchange rate, it will be Rs. 7.03 lakh crore, he said. That would be 2.6 percent of GDP. He said that only 4.5 percent of the total debt was taken from abroad, which is less than 3 percent of the GDP. He also briefed on the steps being taken to promote Indian exports and allow the global trading community to continue doing business in the Indian rupee. He said that from July 11, 2022, the Reserve Bank is taking all steps to make invoicing, payments and settlements in exports and imports in Indian rupees.
