Our national junior football team will meet at seven in the evening today (UAE time) with its counterpart, the Malaysian national team, at the Laos National Stadium, as part of the first round matches of the eighth group in the Asian U-17 qualifiers, which qualifies for the 2025 AFC Asian Cup finals.
The Junior Whites concluded their preparations for their opening match in the qualifiers by conducting their main training session yesterday evening on the match field, under the leadership of coach Majid Al Zaabi and the assistant technical staff, and with the participation of all the players.
Salem Al Zaabi said in press statements: “Today’s match is very important. We concluded that we prepared well for it to achieve a positive result. Morale is high, the players are aware of their responsibilities, and are looking forward to achieving the required result that will take us halfway through the qualifying campaign.”
He added: “We spoke with the players about the importance of the match, and the need to keep the qualification card for the 2025 Asian Cup finals in mind, and to be at the top of our focus during the confrontation against Malaysia.”
For his part, Abdullah Rashid, Al Ain Club player and captain of our national team, spoke about the morale of the players, indicating that all the players have high morale, are excited to play today’s confrontation, and strive to provide a good performance and achieve the goal required to enhance the team’s chances in Group Eight.
On the other hand, the coordination meeting for the Group Eight matches, which includes the UAE, Malaysia and Laos teams, was held yesterday morning, in the presence of AFC officials and representatives of the three teams. It was decided during the meeting that our team would wear the white uniform in the Malaysia match, and the green uniform in the Laos match.
