Who is Kurt Villavicencio?

Kurt Martin Villavicencio Rios is the full name of the interpreter of ‘Nosy’, one of the most famous and successful Peruvian entertainment characters to date. Kurt’s personal history gives meaning to the development of his creation. Since he was born, he lived in Salamanca. As he describes it, a lot of discrimination, homophobia and bullying happened in his neighborhood. However, he knew how to overcome this marginalization and moved forward. According to the program “At noon with Andrea”, a past format hosted by Andrea Llosa, Villavicencio was a child and young man who was quite diligent in his studies.

With the efforts of his parents, he studied at the La Inmaculada school and his higher education was at the University of Lima. From a very young age, he already knew that he would study Communications. Years later, when he finished, he made the leap to national television without yet shining in front of the cameras.

Kurt worked eight years in the production of “Magaly TV”. Specifically, he served as executive producer. How was ‘Metiche’ born?

In an interview he gave to the Net Joven portal, Kurt Villavicencio revealed the details of how the idea of creating a character within the entertainment industry came about, an expert in everything that happens within the entertainment industry. According to the communicator, ‘Nosy’ it is the evolution of an entire concept.

“When the ‘Hello everyone’ program started in 2009, when it was hosted by Katia Condos and Mathías Brivio, reporters were Rodrigo González, Gigi Miter and Pamela Mármol. When the show starts, there was no show segment. At the insistence of ‘Peluchín’, they wanted to do a segment to comment on news about shows. He had left Magaly TV, but was still in charge of the channel’s wardrobe and the program. When Rodrigo proposes to comment on shows, he started the block and I had nothing to do with it. But they proposed: ‘Why doesn’t a voiceover come in to comment on the subject?’ Since the production company knew that I handled the matter, I started as a voiceover. Until someone said: ‘And that nosy?’. From there I became a silhouette, sitting down, and only my hat and glasses stood out for a year. Then I showed my face on the show.”

It is worth mentioning that for Villavicencio it was a whole new experience to play this character on Peruvian television. Even the former producer revealed that he never imagined being able to present himself that way on a national level.

Why did ‘Metiche’ leave television for a few years?

In 2017, when “Tell me everything” with Sofía Franco was going to be released, Kurt Villavicencio had to make an important decision regarding his character. “At 43 years old, almost 44, I think the hat and glasses had their moment. I have an opinion and my own way of being. Sometimes I get upset, but now I want to offer Kurt Villavicencio,” the communicator had declared.

Years later, in different interviews, the show commentator explained more calmly that he also wanted to innovate in his formats in front of the cameras. In addition, this pause served him to find his own essence to communicate.
