‘Padmau’ Sharif Sachcha (Siddhappa) performed the last rites for 25,000 helpless bodies in Ayodhya. Currently Health Kunri is also suffering from lack of financial assistance for treatment from bed.
Mohammad Sharif (83) runs a bicycle repair shop in the Sabzi Mandi area of Faizabad in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh. He has been performing funeral rites for helpless bodies including Hindus and Muslims who died in Ayodhya for the last 27 years.
He managed the expenses on his own income. Thus, he is affectionately known as ‘Sheriff Sacha’. His health is currently deteriorating. The sheriff is lying in bed with no money for treatment.
Sheriff’s wife, Bibi, told The Hindu Tamil newspaper, “We could not save the money as he was buried with helpless bodies. Thus, we suffer without money to provide advanced treatment in a private hospital. It is worrying that no one is coming forward today to help the one who helped so many lifeless bodies. ”
The background to the sheriff’s service is the tragedy of his family life in 1993. Mohammad Reyes, one of the sheriff’s 4 sons, who went on a mission to nearby Sultanpur, did not return home. Reyes’ body was later found buried in an orphanage.
Thereafter, he began to perform funeral rites on the bodies of those who were considered unsupported.
Meanwhile, the Sheriff was awarded the Padma Shri in January last year. The sheriff is no longer in a position to receive the award, which has been put on hold by the corona spread.
One of the other 3 sons died. 2 sons are in a situation where they cannot afford the father’s medical expenses due to low income.
