In Minneapolis, there will be a program that will give $500 to hundreds of people on June 20. This program is called Minneapolis Guaranteed Basic Income and recipients are expected to receive monthly cash payments through June of the following year.
200 households were selected to receive payments from this program, and they can spend the money in the way that suits them, as reported on the Minneapolis website.
To be eligible for the program, individuals had to be 18 years old by January 1, 2022, live in certain Minneapolis ZIP codes that qualify for the program, and have an annual income equal to or less than 50% of the median income for the program. city.
Also, those who wanted to participate in the program must have suffered consequences due to the COVID-19 pandemicsuch as losing a job, facing increased health expenses or having lost access to child care.
Under the program, eligible families in Minneapolis will receive guaranteed $500 stimulus checks each month for two years, from June 2022 to June 2024.
