No more sideburns or skipped sequined suits. Authentic Brands Group (ABG), owner of the rights of the legendary singer, has sent a letter on May 19 to make clear their threats of take legal action if companies continued to use Presley’s image during ceremonies.

The document reminds those in charge of the chapels that “Elvis”, “Elvis Presley” and “The King of Rock and Roll” are protected trademarks and that, therefore, they must avoid unauthorized use “of the name, the similarity , the image, voice, and other elements of Elvis Presley’s personality in advertisements, merchandise, and other matters.”

The letter comes weeks after ABG struck a deal with Universal Music in April to represent the image rights of Elvis Presley and also of the entire portfolio of songs. Added to this agreement is ABG’s initiative to create a Presley metaverse, which will allow the purchase of classic outfits of the popular figure so that users’ avatars can wear them.
