They didn’t go for nothing! Who hasn’t enjoyedMaria Pia and Timothy” in his childhood? We are sure that most of the children born between 1990 and 2000 woke up and went to sleep with these two children’s characters that changed the way of watching television at that time. Many minors dreamed of being in the audience of the children’s program that was broadcast on america television or belong to the dance cast.

The host María Pía Copello was in charge of presenting and animating each of the sequences that were presented on television. the role of the dragon Timothy was to give life to each scene. Also, she was the funny character in every musical. What was not known until recently was that, although they seemed very close and charismatic, the choreographer who played the animal was not a friend of the cheerleader.

María Pía Copello enters for Karina Rivera to cheer with Timoteo

In 1995, he came to america television a space calledKarina and Timothy”, which conquered all Peruvian children and became the most beloved on the small screen for five years. At the end of 1999, the famous Karina Rivera introduced a young María Pía Copello without thinking that she would be the one to take her place.

What happened? Anna Carina Copello’s sister was also very well received by the little ones who watched the program and from there she became the new queen of children’s entertainment. Two dancers from the cast at that time are very famous actresses today: Nataniel Sánchez and Maria Grazia Gamarra. The first, who now lives in Spain, told in an interview that her experience as a dancer was not as good as she thought.

The program was in charge of María Pía Copello until 2006, the last season with her partner Timothy. From then on, a program similar to the one that began with Karina Rivera was not in fashion again. It should be noted that the actor who plays the dragon was Ricardo Bonilla, who was not heard from after his departure from América Televisión.

Why didn’t María Pía Copello get along with Timoteo?

For the children of the 2000s, the most remembered duet is that of “María Pía y Timoteo”; However, this image was disrupted when the dancer Arturo Chumbe, who played the dragon in the musical scenes, confessed that Ricardo Bonilla did not have such a good relationship with María Pia Copello.

It is so revealed for “Moloko podcast” that “everyone knows that María Pía and Timoteo hated each other and did not rehearse. There were rehearsals only with her or only with him, they were never together in rehearsals. The producer said to me: ‘Can you play Timoteo?’and I’m happy, because it’s to support the program and it’s hard for me to get into Timoteo for a little while so that my musical —because I was the choreographer— turns out well”.

Lazy loaded component

Given this, the television presenter María Pía Copello did not hesitate to respond with the intention of calming the waters: “I am not going to speak anything. The truth is, I don’t like conflict, I don’t like soap operas. If I answer or say something, that will continue and I prefer it to stay there… ‘María Pía y Timoteo’ was one of my greatest learnings, I keep the best of memories”. Everything indicates that nothing was what it seemed.
