Why did Toño Sosaya sue Group 5?
12 years ago, Tono Sosaya filed a complaint against Grupo 5 because they fired him arbitrarily and failed to pay his employment benefits. “I had the need to denounce them so that they pay me my social benefits, as required by law. At first, I was afraid, since there may be influences against me, but the judge on duty accepted my complaint,” he said in an interview for ChichaWeb .
After investigations, the court agreed with him and demanded that the band give him almost half a million soles. Faced with this situation, Elmer Yaipén, who at that time led the orchestra, appealed the decision and also recorded a video on YouTube to reject some statements by his former colleague. In the published material, he showed evidence that the entertainer did not work in 2004, 2005 and 2006, as he claimed: he evidenced that he was in Caribeños de Guadalupe in his appeal.
However, the judicial ruling of the Labor Chamber dismissed the request and reaffirmed the payment of the determined amount for social benefits.. “They had to pay me all my social benefits and my time of service, which totaled about 424,000 soles. With that money I formed my own group and (I was able) to get ahead again,” he confessed.
