About personnel changes in the Tretyakov Gallery became known from the message of the Ministry of Culture. “Elena Pronicheva will have to preserve the best experience of saving the museum’s funds and continue the development of the State Tretyakov Gallery and its branches, including within the framework of the cultural, educational and museum complexes being created,” the message says.
The 39-year-old Elena Vladimirovna Pronicheva has been in the museum management since 2013. She was the executive director of the Jewish Museum and the Tolerance Center. During its work, the museum reached the international level, and in 2016, the Scientific and Methodological Center for the Psychology and Pedagogy of Tolerance, opened on the basis of the museum, was even awarded the UNESCO Prize. In the last two years, Elena Pronicheva has been in charge of the renovated Polytechnic Museum. During this time, the museum has significantly increased the volume of exhibitions and the number of exhibits. The opening was prepared by the branch of the Polytechnic University in Tula, Veliky Novgorod and other cities of Russia. She was awarded the prize of the All-Russian Public Movement “For the Saving of the People”, a diploma of the Moscow City Duma.
Elena Pronicheva was born on June 6, 1983 in the family of FSB General, Hero of the Russian Federation Vladimir Pronichev. In 2005 she graduated from MGIMO with a degree in comparative political science. Pronicheva – is a member of the Council of the Russian Federation for Science and Education, one of the mentors of the project “Women. School of Mentoring”, created in 2021 at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science. Elena’s sister Ekaterina Pronicheva in different years headed the tourism committee of the Moscow City Hall, headed the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, headed JSC VDNKh, since 2022 she has been the General Director of the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve.

Zelfira Ismailovna Tregulova headed the Tretyakov Gallery for exactly 8 years, from February 10, 2015, having come to this position after working in the Moscow Kremlin museums. The dismissal is connected with the deadline for the completion of the contract, the Ministry of Culture explained. During her leadership, the museum hosted exhibitions of prominent Russian artists, which were very successful. Expositions of paintings by Serov, Aivazovsky, Vereshchagin, Kuindzhi, Repin and Polenov were visited by up to half a million guests. In 2020, against the background of the coronavirus pandemic, the Tretyakov Gallery, which was closed to visitors, published a complete photo archive of its exhibitions on the Web on Yandex.Collections. In 2022, the museum exceeded the attendance plan for the year: more than 1.3 million people visited the exhibitions. According to Tregulova, such an increase in attendance was due to the desire of guests to find peace in the halls of the museum.
Before the Tretyakov Gallery, Zelfira Tregulova worked as Deputy General Director for Exhibitions and International Relations of the Moscow Kremlin Museums (2002-2013) and Head of the Department of Foreign Relations and Exhibitions at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (1998-2000). Since 2013, she has headed the State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSIZO. At various times, she curated major international exhibitions in leading museums around the world, including Avant-Garde Amazons (1999-2000), Russia! (2005), Socialist Realisms (2011), Kazimir Malevich and the Russian Avant-Garde (2013–2014).
Zelfira Tregulova was born on June 13, 1955 in Riga, in 1977 she graduated from the Faculty of History of Moscow State University with a degree in art criticism, and after that she also completed postgraduate studies at Moscow State University. She is a member of the Council of the Russian Federation for Culture and Art, was awarded diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Order of the Star of Italy of the degree of Cavalier for merits in holding the Cross Year of Russian Culture and the Russian Language in Italy and other awards.
Incidents at the Tretyakov Gallery
During the leadership of Tregulova, a number of high-profile incidents occurred in the Tretyakov Gallery. So, on May 25, 2018, Ilya Repin’s painting “Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan on November 16, 1581” was damaged, and on January 27, 2019, the painting “Ai-Petri. Crimea” (she was found, and the attacker was detained). On February 11, 2019, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky reprimanded Zelfira Tregulova “for violations of the current instructions for accounting and storage of museum valuables and the order of the Ministry of Culture” On the approval of standard requirements for engineering and technical strength and equipment with technical means of protection of cultural institutions located in buildings – monuments history and culture”.
