The return of star Kylian Mbappe to the defending champion Paris Saint-Germain was not complete, as Toulouse succeeded in striking the Parisian club by snatching a 1-1 draw three minutes before the end of normal time in the second stage of the French Football League on Saturday.
And at the Toulouse stadium, Mbappe entered from the bench in the 51st minute, at the exact moment when the new coach of Saint-Germain, Luis Enrique, pushed the newcomer from Barcelona, the French international, Osman Dembele.
Mbappe’s return comes after a summer that began with the possibility of his leaving the French capital, and the 2018 World Cup champion was able to score the goal of progress from a penalty kick (62) after he was obstructed inside the area. Mbappe scored his ninth goal in his last 11 matches with Saint-Germain, including clashes from last season.
However, Toulouse responded in a shocking way, with the equalizing goal from a penalty kick, carried out by Moroccan Zakaria Abu Khalil (87), following a mistake committed by his compatriot Ashraf Hakimi.
Saint-Germain remained without a win after two stages, as it tied in the first stage also against Lorient 0-0, bringing it with two points in eighth place. While Toulouse ranks third with four points, equal to leaders Montpellier and Marseille.
Enrique will have to search for quick solutions to put his team on the winning track.
Many players left the ranks of Saint-Germain this summer, led by Argentine star Lionel Messi, Spaniard Sergio Ramos and finally Brazilian Neymar.
