Women are increasingly economically independent, but motherhood is still a stumbling block

Women’s economic independence has increased significantly over the past ten years. In 2021, more than 66 percent of women on their own earned more than the social assistance level. In 2011 that was just under 57 percent. Women are still far behind men.
