Mumbai: Delhi team won the women’s premier league match against RCB by 60 runs.
The first Women’s Premier ‘League’ 20 Over Cricket Tournament will be held at D.Y., Navi Mumbai. Yesterday started with a bang at the Patil Stadium. 5 teams namely Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriors have participated in this tournament. Each team has to play against other teams 2 times each. The top 4 teams at the end of the ‘league’ will qualify for the ‘play-off’ round. Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Giants by 143 runs in the opening match yesterday.
On the second day of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Smriti Mandhana met Delhi Capitals led by McClanning. In this, Smriti Mandhana, the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and chose to bowl. Accordingly Delhi team batted first. In this, the captain of the Delhi team McClanning scored 72 runs in 43 balls and showed an excellent performance. On the other hand, Shawfail Verma threatened with 84 runs off 45 balls. At the end of 20 overs, Delhi team accumulated 223 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.
The players of RCB, who entered the field with the target of winning if they score 224 runs, did not give up much. Team captain Smritu Mandhana scored a top score of 35 off 23 balls. Elliese Perry added 31 runs, Heather Knight 34 runs and Meagan 30 runs. While the rest of the players did not add much runs, RCB managed to score only 163 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. With this Delhi team beat RCB by 60 runs. Dara Norris took maximum 5 wickets for Delhi team.
