New Delhi: India’s Neetu Gangas and Saveti Pura win gold at Women’s World Boxing Championships
India’s 22-year-old Neetu Kangas played against Mongolia’s Lutsaikon Altansetsek in the final of the 48 kg weight category yesterday in the ongoing series in Delhi. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Neetu Kangas launched his attack aggressively. Neetu was effective with his punches and rocked Lutsaigon Altancecek with a 5-0 win to clinch the gold medal.
In the final round of the 81 kg category, 3-time Asian Games medalist Savity Pura of India clashed with 2018 world champion Lina Wang of China. Saviti Pura won the gold medal with a score of 4-3. This is Saveti Pura’s 2nd medal at the World Championships. He won the silver medal in 2014.
India has so far won 12 golds in the history of Women’s World Boxing Championships. Only Mary Kom was chasing 6 gold medals. Apart from her, Sarita Devi (2006), Jenny (2006), Lekha (2006) and Nikat Zareen (2022) have also won the World Champion title. Currently, Neetu Gangas and Saweeti Pura have won gold.
