The Ranji Trophy is one of the most important series in Indian domestic cricket. The first round of the Ranji Trophy Series for the 87th season took place last February and March. Now the knock-out round has begun. Mumbai and Uttarakhand played in the second quarter. The match was played at the Alur ground of the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
Mumbai won the toss and elected to bat first. That team piled up 647 and 261 runs in two innings. Uttarakhand scored only 114 and 69 in both the innings. So Mumbai won by 725 runs. This victory has set a new record in first-class cricket.
The previous record was 685 for New South Wales in first-class cricket. The victory was recorded against the Queensland team in the late 1930s. Now it has been demolished by the Mumbai team.
